I think it's really good that you are getting reactions. I think you should respond in some interesting way that perhaps has a slightly different approach than most comments on this--to get people to respond even more.

I agree with you Reva. I think few Chinese people feel the need to protest the government when so much has improved for the majority. There are still so many people who suffer in China; in jail for sending an illegal email or homeless after being evicted from their homes so the Birds Nest could be presented to the world. I am hopeful that Americans are becoming more and more aware of the injustices that the Chinese people endure, especially their lack of freedom to speak out. We are fooling ourselves if we think the Olympics have changed the way the government does business, but some good is sure to come. My circle of friends and relatives reacted when they heard on Olympic television coverage that the Chinese women's gymnastics team may have had their passports altered illegally by the Chinese government so that all athletes would appear to be the required 16 years of age. We were all outraged! Could the Chinese government do this? Surely this would never happen in the US! Hopefully more freedom will come to the people of China. Thanks for keeping us informed, you have done great investigative research.

Yes, I was really heartened to read her thoughts. But it is sad to know she no longer lives in China and her blog, which is written in Chinese, is hosted outside of China.

In my opinion, this is your best blog entry to date, Reva! Excellent!! I have read and heard many times about Han Chinese who are engaging in research about what has really happened in Tibet and who are opening their eyes at last to history and seeing Tibet and Tibetans for what and who they are. This is a marvelous example of such an individual risking writing what she has seen and experienced in Tibet. I take my hat off to her again and again. Such courage! What she has said and done is so desparately needed.
Thank you, Reva, for putting this out there for more of us to read. One voice in the wilderness is a beginning and I understand that she is now not alone among Han Chinese. Bravo to her and thanks to you for putting this out there!!!!!

'Really appreciated the personal story about your experience getting a hotel room and hotel service with your friend. It added to the horrifying story of the family who rented an old car in order to have a place to stay in Bejing.

Not only will the Chinese government need to learn to relinquish its too often barbaric controls. The government is going to have to begin treating its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, with even the most basic consideration and respect. As long as it continues with its current approach, the world will simply not trust this country, no matter how delightful any individual Chinese citizen might be.

I applaud all of those who let their response to China's human rights record be known through protest when the Olympic torch came through country after country!

There is a huge message for China in this response! 'Wonder when they will ever get it.
