The third reason: raging capitalism

I missed small, locally owned stores.  I missed walking into a shop and having a personal conversation.  You get this when a store stands alone.  The owner and employees are committed to the neighborhood, they chat you up.

I didn't want to shop for groceries in a store the size of a stadium.  I didn't want to buy a lightbulb in a place with an enormous inventory and its own lumber yard.

This video Big Box Mart by JibJab says it so well.  http://www.jibjab.com/originals/big_box_mart

I absolutely hate Wal-Mart. I hate the crowds and it seams to attract the stupidest people. I don’t like to admit it, but when I go there, I love seeing all the cheap stuff.
On the positive side, it we have economic ties to China; we’re less likely to go to war with them, unless of course, they have something we want such as oil.
