Is this China's century?

In 1998, sick and tired of America and all its problems, I ran away to China.  It was far enough. There, to my surprise, my students told me China would be the next superpower.  In about five years, they said.

The last century belonged to America, the next century would belong to China.  They were sure of it.  I left in 2001, shortly after Beijing was chosen for the 2008 Olympic Games.  The Chinese were jubilant, even the taxi drivers were trying to learn English.

I wrote a book about my three years in China. You can find excerpts of "I Ran Away to China" on my website.
Here, I will be posting my thoughts on China.  Some of this writing has been previously published, some is published for the first time here.  Please join me.

I don't entirely agree that Bush has gotten much right about China but I really, really like your blog!
